Debating

Meán Scoil Mhuire has a long history of national success in debating and public speaking.

Our Concern Debating Team from 2019

The above photo is of our Senior Concern Debating Team, who reached the final sixteen of the 2019 prestigious debating competition. The team travelled to Balla Secondary School, Mayo, in February and opposed the motion, “For women to access leadership positions, gender quotas must be implemented”.

We are very proud of all the teams we have had in the school over the years, and we hope to have continued success in the future. Debating is a very skilled and challenging activity to be involved in with many hours of preparation, research and practice put in before the actual debate. We fully support and acknowledge the effort put into Debating by our team.
